All dogs go to heaven #51 6 by 8 watercolor $40.00

September 5, 2012

The little sparkles in the sky are barely visible, I think the camera flash picked up the reflective value and accentuated the sparkle.

“Humming birds and Morning Glorys” Oil on gallery wrap canvas 8″by 8″ $75.00

February 22, 2012

This painting is in oil on gallery wrap and still wet so it tends to reflect back into the camera, It looks better then this (really).   I guess I’ll have to wait till the paint dries and re post it.

I like painting birds and I love these small little hummers, especially when they visit my Heavenly Blue Morning Glories,

I have painted so many hummingbirds over the years. Now, I find myself painting them a little different each time.  I guess in hopes of giving them some individuality.

LAKE WYLIE SPRING – watercolor on paper

April 13, 2010

This beautiful painting was inspired by the warm sunny days and cool nights we have had this week,  Lake Wylie is a beautiful lake any time of the year but I do love it even more in spring.  After the long winter months of brown, brown, and more brown, ( even the water in the lake turns muddy) the trees explode into the most vivid shades of green.  Of course with spects of magenta where the red buds peek thru and often the wisteria will lace the fringes of the tree tops with its lavender trail of color and who can forget the dog woods with their soft kiss of buttery yellow.  All of these trees give you that brightness and the shades of easter which always seems to complement all that luscious green.

Approximately 6.5 by 8.5 inches watercolor on paper.

Butterfly Morn

September 4, 2009

Butterfly morn

Its been a crazy week, as usual working late at night. Some nights spent drinking coffee or workng in my diet pepsi/diet mountain dew haze,  I find I’m too tired to take a shower and I just fall into bed with all of my clothes on. The next day, I awake with dogs whining and begging to go out , one  pup that looks like Marley is licking my toes which are usually sticking out of the blankets.   So of course here I go out doors with the clothes I slept in, you just know the neighbors think I’m nuts now.  Actually if walking around in rumpled clothed didn’t do it maybe that fouth lab I rescued definately sealed the deal.

I’m rushing to meet deadlines for several shows and a commission .   Fall s a big time of the year for artists. I’m  trying to do too many things as usual and only doing about half.  I’m patient but not enough, because it buggs me that the oil paintings take so long to dry.

The paintings I finished last week are still wet,   I may need to cut back on some of the mediums, its humid here and that doesn’t help.  I hope next week goes a bit better.

This painting is on paper painted in watercolor and the size is 6 by 8 the price is 75.00 USD

Tribute to Monet series “Dark waters ll”

August 14, 2009

dark waters ll monet

This 8 by 10 (inch) oil painting on wood is for sale for $95.00. I love the mix of colors and the dark colors next to the lighter & brighter colors. Its part of my “Tribute to Monet” series and I find this method of painting complicated and yet simple. these paintings tend to be very heavily pigmented and usually take at least a week to dry because of the amount of paint used to achieve this look. Its done with palette knives and a special little tool I made, which looks like a spatula. the surface seems rich. I enjoy painting in this style but cannot decide how it will work with anything other than water.
